Welcome parents, guardians, students, and friends of Spencerport High School :-) !!

I am excited to share that the High School will be implementing the Raptor Visitor Management System beginning on May 6.  As you know, we have been working with the district, faculty and parents within our community in an effort to continuously improve the safety and security of our buildings and students.  While I am very proud of the steps we have taken together, I can also say with confidence that this new system will allow us to take significant strides in our ability to safely and efficiently manage all visitors to the building.  Please remember to have your state issued identification with you when your visit the school. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

I would like to also formally welcome the newest Ranger to the high school.  Ruby the Therapy Dog!!

We are excited to share that the school board has approved a therapy dog program for the district and our first dog  (Ruby) for the high school has been officially approved!!

The goals of this program are to:

·         enhance student learning

·         build self-esteem

·         improve self-confidence

·         enhance social skills

·         improve communication skills

·         decrease loneliness, anxiety, anger and depression

Ruby  is located in the high school counseling office with JoAnn Krywy.  She is a fully certified therapy dog and has met all of the requirements set forth in the board policy. If anyone has any concerns about their student interacting with Ruby because of allergies (or anything else), please let me know and we would be more than happy to make accommodations so that everyone is comfortable.

As noted above when visiting the high school please have a valid government issued ID ready to be presented to our greeters to be scanned by our visitor management system.  In addition please call ahead to your child's grade level office if you will be visiting the building to drop something off, etc. so the greeters are expecting you.

As a reminder, our school district has a Confidential Tip Line for our students and community. The TIP line, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, provides callers an opportunity to report activities such as: drug abuse, physical or sexual abuse, weapons, or threats in our schools. “Ensure Safety for All…Make the Call” at 1-877-474-9403 (please remember that there is no need to leave your name or number).

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.  All the best.  Sean
