General Library Rules

Failure to follow these expectations will result in disciplinary consequences including, but not limited to, removal from the library, a referral to your administrator, contacting home, and/or loss of library privileges.

  • All students must enter the library through the first floor 174 South Door.
  • You must have a pass BEFORE coming to the library from study hall and/or lunch.
    • Only students with honor passes AND an e-Hall pass are permitted to use the library during Advisement and Study Hall.
      • Once the library supervision capacity has been reached, you may be turned away.
    • You must check-in and have your pass verified by library staff before entering and taking a seat.
    • Loitering in or around the library without signing in is not permitted.
    • Students in the library researching an assignment with a classroom teacher are requested to remain in the area their teacher reserved until the period ends.
  • You must check in with your teachers before coming to the library from your study hall or advisement.
    • Be sure to sign out of your study hall. 
    • You have 5 minutes after leaving class to arrive & sign in at the library.
    • Check-in at the circulation desk.  You are expected to stay in the library for the period.
    • Sign out if you leave the library.  Sign back in upon returning.  There is no traveling the last fifteen minutes of class.
  • Materials must be checked out before leaving the library.
    • Materials designated for Library Use Only may not be removed from the library.
    • Students & staff borrowing materials (books or media) are responsible for returning them on time and in the same condition as when borrowed.
  • Be respectful & responsible.
    • Students are expected to behave civilly to avoid interfering with others using the facility. Excessive displays of affection, loud noises, playing music or videos without headphones, wrestling, and similar physical contact activities are considered a disturbance.
      • Students are expected to leave the furniture, equipment, and facilities in good condition for the next person’s use.
    • Use all equipment, materials, and resources ethically, appropriately, and responsibly.
    • Be cognizant of those around you. Voices and noise levels must be kept at a conversational level out of respect for others using our shared space.
    • Students are expected to follow directions or instructions from the library and school staff.
  • Help us keep the library collection, equipment, and furnishings clean.
    • Food is NOT permitted in the library
  • There is no filming in the library.
    • If you want to film a BookTok - speak with one of the library staff!
